PT 12.6 includes a new Freeze Status Icon in the Edit window to show if tracks are frozen within a session. The Edit window now includes an activity indicator for the Task Manager.įreeze has become a favorite feature for me, freeing up computer resources and helping manage tracks. A new mode allows sending fully overlapped clips to a new or existing playlist. This makes it very fast and easy to audition playlists. One of my favorite new features is a key command that allows you to change the active playlist without having to open up playlist view on a track. First, there is now an indicator “light” that shows when a track contains more than one playlist - surprisingly useful. Pro Tools v12.6 includes a number of new ways to manage playlists. Certainly this will be big for post work, but I see many applications for music production as well.
Being able to process each clip separately gives you tremendous flexibility for controlling dynamics, applying corrective EQ and filtering effects, without having to resort to separating clips onto multiple tracks - each with its own set of plug-ins - or using automation to change settings on plug-ins. Currently, channel-strip-style processing is available, but expect more plug-ins to come in the future. One of the biggest new features is a brand-new plug-in format in Pro Tools that supports applying real-time processing on a per-clip basis. There are a number of very useful new features that provide improvements, particularly to workflow. I had an opportunity to sit down for a hands-on “sneak peek” at some of the new features in the new version. Upgrade Spanner & Slapper To Most Recent Versions Opening an old session in Pro Tools 12.5 which was last saved with older versions of the plugin.Upgrading your plugin to current, then opening a session in Pro Tools 12.5.
Passing a session back and forth between 2 systems, each with different versions of the plug-ins, and at least one of them on Pro Tools 12.5.There will be no warning to the problem occurring. Using Pro Tools 12.5.x to open a session which was last saved using certain different versions of Slapper or Spanner. When the session is opened, some automated parameters will switch to "disabled for automation", causing all automation for that parameter to be lost. Our friends at The Cargo Cult have informed us that Pro Tools 12.5 causes loss of automation data with Spanner and Slapper plug-ins.
